From the Resolution of the Sejm (Lower House) of the Republic of Poland commemorating the 65th anniversary of the Katyń crime

This unprecedented genocidal murder committed on defenceless prisoners of war in violation of the most fundamental rules of law and morality was part of a terrible plan of two totalitarian states - the German Third Reich and the Soviet Union - to destroy Poland by the extermination of its most valuable and patriotically-minded citizens. [...]

The Sejm of the Republic of Poland expresses regret that, so far, the Katyń crime has been an object of political games aimed to render it relative and diminish, and also to dilute the responsibility of its perpetrators. We are positive that only disclosing the full truth about the murder and stigmatizing and punishing all its perpetrators will help to heal the old wounds and develop good-neighbourly relations between the Republic of Poland and the Russian Federation. Reconciliation and friendship between nations are possible only on the grounds of truth and memory, and not concealment, half-truth and lies.
